Caring For Your Suede Slip On Shoes

Although it is considered as one of the most accessible, comfortable and beloved materials for any kind of clothing garment, accessory or shoes, it can't be denied that suede has its pros and cons too. If you ask me what my most favorite shoe material is, I would say that suede is definitely occupying one of the top spots just because of its pure softness and lightness on feet. But even if suede is comfortable, soft, light and very chic, its materials and compositions also make it a very tricky  shoe to wear. In order to get the most out of the suede shoes that you are buying, you need to really milk its lifespan out --- either by finding ways to keep it out of the elements or by taking care of it while it is worn on your feet.

Is Taking Care Of Suede Shoes Difficult?

Suede can be quite complicated to wear because it can easily suffer from exposure to elements such as sunlight and rain. Furthermore, suede is also a sucker for dirt because of its small hair strands that easily attract small dust particles. For starters, you need to learn how to protect your suede when you wear them on your feet. If you aren't familiar with suede material, it is comprised of small hair strands because it is made from the underside of an animal's skin. While this makes the suede soft, light and easy to wear, it also makes the suede prone to attracting dust particles.

Unlike leather which can easily be cleaned by wiping off the dirt, suede is a lot more complicated to take care off. When you try to wipe of the dirt off of suede, you risk the chances of the dirt bleeding out to surrounding areas. For this reason alone, you need to buy a separate suede cleaner once you decide to buy your first pair of suede shoes. Trust me, this will save you a lot of money in the long run --- I've been there and done that!

Before you even wear your suede, one thing that you can do to protect it from dust is to spray some dust and water repellent over it. The dust and water repellent will prevent your suede shoes from getting damaged in the first place, and it will save you from the headache of trying to clean it once it gets dirtied.

Another thing that you have to take note of when you keep or store your suede shoes is its vicinity to direct sunlight. If you are unaware of it, direct exposure to sunlight can really bleach and whiten your suede shoes, causing white spots to appear all over the upper portion of the shoes. To prevent this, always try to keep your suede shoes inside the shoe closet or try to move it away from windows where sunlight can leak inside.

Suede can be a difficult material to keep, but it is a very soft and light material for shoes. As long as you can manage and keep it properly, there is no reason why your suede shoes can last you for years! One of my most favorite pairs are this suede slip-on from Crazy Girls Korean web store. With so many different colors and shades, you'll definitely find one that you will be able to mix and match with your outfit!
